• Graduation: Porsgrund Technical Engineering School with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, 1912, Porsgrunn, Norway. While at school he met his future wife's brother, Aage Hansen.

• Emigration: by himself on the S/S Stavangerfjord of the Norwegian-America Line, Jun 9, 1922, Kristiania, Akershus, Norway. He arrived in New York on June 20, 1922 and was processed at Ellis Island. He was able to find work right away and saved enough money to buy tickets for Alma and the three girls to come over the following April.

(Alma Sigrid Kirstine Hansen was born on May 4, 1895 in Roskilde, Denmark, christened in 1895 in Sjalland, Denmark and died on May 1, 1988 in Ellsworth, Hancock, ME.)
