Benjamin Silliman Sr.

  Noted events in his life were:

• Education: Princeton College, Bef 1802.

• Occupation: Professor at Yale University, 1802. He was Yale's first chemistry professor and became Professor of Chemistry, Mineralogy, and Natural History. Silliman College was named in tribute to him.

• Occupation: founder of the "American Journal of Science", 1818.
