Death Notes: Death listed as 1 Feb 1833 In DAR Patriot Index. Noted events in his life were: • Military Service: as a Sergeant in the militia, during the Revolutionary War, NY. • Residence, Abt 1780, Pawling, Dutchess, NY. His home in Pawling was at one time General Washington's headquarters. • Occupation: manager of the "Morehouse Tavern", Abt 1782, Pawling, Dutchess, NY. He succeeded his father's management of the family tavern and remained in Pawling until about 1800. • Moved, Abt 1800, Greenbush, Rensselaer, NY. Stayed about 4 years before moving to and settling in Spencertown, NY. • Residence, 1804, Spencertown, Columbia, NY. He purchased a farm from James Savage, built a house, and remained there until his death. David married Jane Belden, daughter of Sen. Silas Belden Jr. and Jannetje Knickerbocker, on Nov 1, 1781 in Pawling, Dutchess, NY. (Jane Belden was born on Apr 25, 1762 and died on Aug 14, 1844.) |
